Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust and Netcall celebrate excellence in digitising and transforming healthcare

With great pride we can announce that Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust and Netcall were finalists in the Digital Innovator of the Year at the HSJ Digital Awards 2024. NHS England Midlands was awarded the trophy for the category for Digital Innovator of the Year at the prestigious awards ceremony held on 6th June in Manchester.

Celebrating excellence in digitising, connecting and transforming health and care

The category recognises innovative digital projects which are transforming care delivery, enhancing efficiency and improving patient outcomes. We are delighted that our Transforming Diagnostic Booking was chosen as a finalist, from 343 entries for the HSJ Digital Awards.

Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust embarked on a project to modernise and digitise their diagnostic booking service. A two-stage process, firstly modernising telephony bookings to provide agents with state-of-the-art telephony software and routing capabilities, and then digitising the booking process so that patients can engage and book digitally wherever possible. The overarching aim was to make it an easier and quicker process for patients, with a by-product of reducing call volumes into the booking centre.

It automates the booking process, taking data directly from Radiology Information Systems when a patient is referred for diagnostic imaging. It’s easy for patients to choose the most appropriate appointment time – with zero effort from your booking team. The app captures safety information from the patient and reassures them about the procedure. Everything is clear and simple, meaning fewer wasted appointments.
