Household waste recycling centre booking accelerator – Show and tell

On Thursday 13th August, we shared the latest app which was added to the AppShare to assist Local Authorities dealing with the COVID-19 situation.

The HWRC Booking Accelerator is designed to help manage the number of concurrent vehicles allowed on site at a HWRC. With residents keen to dispose of household waste that has been collected over the lockdown period, and in order to maintain social distancing whilst on site, there is a need to manage the number of vehicles that can attend a specific HWRC at any given time.

This Accelerator has been designed to allow residents to book specific date and time slots at a Council’s HWRC. It includes management of bookings, monitoring failure to attend and integration to the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service (VES) to confirm vehicle registration details.

There are also interfaces for HWRC Officers to manage the bookings for their site for that day and for managing bookings across all HWRC settings. There are also some Management reports included identifying the number of bookings broken down by data and setting and booking type etc.
