Principal Application Architect

This hands-on role requires hard-work and dedication, a breadth and depth of knowledge obtained through experience across a range of previous projects and a commitment to leading customers and their projects to successful outcomes.


A leader in our low-code technology domain, working with colleagues and customer stakeholders to develop and enhance our application framework, integrate with and utilise the latest technologies to ensure outcomes align with the needs of our Customers and Partners.



Key responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the framework and application features to deliver the end to end technical solution for a project
  • Acts as a conduit between architecture and delivery, technical sales and platform development teams
  • Acts as point of contact for technical issues related to the overall solution and design
  • Acts as mentor, developing the skills of less experienced colleagues and customer implementation
  • resource within the project team, ensuring their approach is aligned with framework best practice guidelines
  • Acts as a technical product owner supporting all teams within the initiative
  • Identifies, scopes and models business processes, rules, workflow, data and interface requirements and process improvements
  • Contributes to the wider development of capability and propositions in the business
  • Manages and uses the appropriate escalation routes if committed delivery, installation and/or implementation dates will not be met
  • Writes technical specifications including use cases, prototype screen designs, process flow diagrams and testing requirements
  • Determines benefits/costs and means of measuring these to support business case
  • Manages and provides product-specific support to the Delivery, Software Development and Customer Support teams
  • Manages personal and project team utilisation

KPIs and success factors:


  • Responsible for the continued expansion of Netcall’s application frameworks within the Local Government, Health and Housing markets
  • Responsible for ease of deployment, implementation and training of Netcall’s application frameworks including stability, interoperability, portability, security, integrity and scalability of system architecture

Skills and knowledge:


  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Creative, confident and driven, with an eye for detail
  • Knowledgeable of a range of business systems and processes across a number of domains, including the roles within an organisation for those responsible for implementing and maintaining them
  • Able to manage a number of client relationships including the scoping and delivery of complex consultancy projects and services
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of a range of web development technologies, including Javascript, Python, REST/SOAP web services, HTML and CSS
  • Proven use of data technologies including MySQL and SQL Server databases, database schemas, SQL syntax, ETL techniques and best practice, as well as an understanding of and solutions for issues arising with data integration across multiple systems
  • Knowledgeable of network architecture, data security constraints and standards and means of ensuring data integrity is maintained across multiple integrated systems
  • Proactive and highly organised, with proven ability to deliver to deadlines, remaining calm under pressure
  • Proven use of data, documentation and databases, web services and other means of accessing third-party systems for integration purposes across a number of solution domains
  • Proven understanding of how to design, implement and maintain web services, web user interfaces and web-based applications across a number of solution domains
  • Chartered Engineer and/or Project Management Qualifications – APM, PMI or PRINCE2
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a subject relating to Computer Science


Previous experience:


  • Working to an Agile Project Delivery Methodology
  • Experience of implementation of and/or integration with a range of software solutions
  • Working knowledge of the processes involved in software development and delivery of professional services – ITIL
